Terminology:
Macule Flat, impalpable lesion

Papule Raised lesion that is <1cm across

Nodule Raised lesion that is >1cm across

Plaque Flat raised lesion usually formed by papules fusing together

Vesicle Fluid-filled lesion <1cm across

Bulla Fluid-filled lesion >1cm across

Orthoketatosis Thick scale

Parakeratosis Silvery scaling

Crust Dried serous exudates

Erythema Red – blanches on diascopy (pressing with piece of glass)

Purpura Red – does not blanch on diascopy

Hypopigmented Pale

Hyperpigmented Dark
